Clothing: This year with PE classes taking place in and out of doors, making sure your child is dressed for success will be very important. In the gym, proper footwear is the most important piece of clothing. Our floors are very slick and very hard so sneakers are the best option for a pleasant PE class. Outside is a bit more tricky. Always having that additional layer is helpful in the winter or summer. Sunscreen and bug repellent in the summer (non aerosol) are also appreciated as we have allergies to those items and sharing between students/teachers is not encouraged.
Communication: Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's progress. We welcome the chance to speak with you and your child. We want to cheer them on in their successes and support them when they are challenged. We are always here to help!
Caring: As PE Teachers, we take a great deal of pride in our subject and we are proud that the elementary curriculum places a great deal of attention on well-being and social skill development. Taking turns, sharing, and fostering good teamwork are always considered in our lesson preparation. For young children who come from a variety of backgrounds, this is a very big experience for them. They will struggle at different times and in different ways. You are their biggest support systems so we encourage you to have these conversations and let them know that is it OK to struggle, and there will be differences, but that they are supported. You can be assured that we are having those conversations with them as well!
